Welcome to my new blog! After five years with the old design, I realized that I needed to freshen things up. One of the things that motivated me to change it up was that I was using Flash and that is no longer a wonderful feature in our fast paced technological world. (And I believe good old Steve Jobs was NOT a fan!) Wasn't mobile friendly and caused me to fall off of the radar, quite literally. Google's search engines have also changed their criteria so this new blog is my attempt to not only share thoughts, new work and things I find interesting but also to provide content for the search engines to pick up. I am not a very tech-savvy individual and being a Cancerian, I resist change...but change is good and I am embracing it! I hope you enjoy my offerings, both the written ones and the images of my work. For those just discovering my website, I am a one woman operation, in my little studio in downtown Vancouver. I design and hand fabricate every single piece that you see on my website. I sometimes need a bit of help from a couple of professional stone setters who do my pavé setting and channel setting. All other stones are set by moi. The reason I use a professional for those two types is because it is very precise, time consuming work, involving lots of tiny drill bits, measuring, spacing and plenty of elbow grease. These guys train for years and do a beautiful job, something that would take me hours and hours to do- doesn't make sense to me!
One has to know one's strengths and weaknesses and my greatest strength is design. I do, however, enjoy the challenge of figuring out how to bring my designs to life. It is engineering on a miniature scale. I have come to the conclusion that I must be a masochist...lol. But I also realized, through trial and error, that I am a fabulous problem solver and this, strangely enough, has helped me in other areas of my life. Ah, the serendipity of it all! I will leave you with this first post with much gratitude for a job well done by Egami, the website creators. Lisa was wonderful to work with and talk about efficient and fast! I am thrilled. Please check her out if you need any design services, she is a consummate professional. www.egamicreative.com Thank you for your time and please feel free to drop me a line. Hélène
